Guide to Recruiting on Campus

Getting Involved

One of the best ways to build a reputation on campus and gain visibility is to get involved in student academics and activities.  For example:

  • Participating in practice interviews and resume critiques with students
  • Becoming a guest speaker for a student club (for a complete listing of LCB student clubs, click here)
  • Participating in a career-centered panel discussion
  • Hosting a group of students on an informational visit to your company
  • Holding an information session about your company and industry

While several of these activities do not involve direct recruiting, the net result is that they get students interested in your company by virtue of the relationship you have fostered with them.

The following form will give you a checklist of ways to get involved with student in both on-campus and off-campus activities:

Job and Internship Postings

Often, the first exposure a student will have to your company comes by way of the job or internship you post with Lundquist Career Services. A well-written and appealing posting, along with information about your company, is important to generate student interest and enthusiasm. Equally important is identifying your target audience (i.e. marketing, accounting, finance majors; students with a concentration in sports business or supply chain management).

Prior to posting your position, you may contact Bill Sherman, Assistant Director for Employer Relations, for input or feedback.

Posting your job or internship for business students to see is a simple process.

  • UO JobLink is a searchable database of jobs and internships available only to registered students, maintained by the central UO Career Center. This system reaches students from all majors, including business students and allows you, the employer, to set the search criteria and, where applicable, review resumes.  To get started, visit the following link and follow the instructions for self-posting: http://uocareer.uoregon.edu/employer.
  • BlackBoard is an intranet site for business students and can provide additional coverage for your job or internship announcement. Please send the posting via email to Bethany Rexford: brexford@uoregon.edu

Interviewing on Campus

Conducting interviews at the Lillis Business Complex in our employer interview suites can be a great way to connect with students and gain visibility. It is also convenient, as business students are readily available and Lundquist Career Services can help with scheduling the interviews.

To inquire about the best time to schedule interviews on campus, please call Bill Sherman, Assistant Director for Employer Relations, at (541) 346-3696 or email: wsherman@uoregon.edu.
